こんにちは。海外旅行に行くときは、たいてい旅行保険を契約してから旅行に行きます。この保険は怪我、災難そして泥棒に対する保険になります。
何もなければちょっともったいないお金ですが、何かあった時の安心感が違います。
スリにあったら警察に
海外でもっとも被害にあいやすいのが、スリです。観光地を歩いている時に現金を盗られたりや、貴金属を盗られてしまいます。
現金だけならまだ被害も少ないですが、パスポートやクレジットカードなどを盗られてしまうと、とても大変です。
会話
海外旅行へ行った佐藤さんが、スリにあってしまったようです。最後、佐藤さんは警察官になんと言われたのでしょうか？
佐藤さんと警察官の会話をみてみましょう。
Mr. Sato: Excuse me, please help me!
すみません、助けて下さい！
Policeman: What happened to you?
警察官：どうしましたか？
Mr. Sato: My bag was stolen. All of my valuables are in there.
鞄を盗まれました。貴重品の全てがその中にあります。
Policeman: I see. You have had your pocket picked.
なるほど。スリに合われたのですね。
I will write out the certificate of theft for you. Where was your bag stolen?
窃盗証明書を書きましょう。どこで鞄が盗まれましたか？
Mr. Sato: I was at the center plaza of this city.
私はこの町の中央広場にいました。
I was watching the church and someone suddenly pulled my bag.

It was too fast and I couldn’t pull it back.

Policeman: Okay, then please tell me every stolen item.

Mr. Sato: My bag is a black shoulder bag. My passport, a wallet, and the flight ticket were in the bag.
私の鞄は黒いショルダーバッグです。パスポート、財布、飛行機のチケットが鞄に入っていました。
Policeman: Is that all?

Mr. Sato: Yes, it is.
はい、そうです。
Policeman: How much money was in your wallet? How about a credit card?
どれくらいのお金がお財布に入っていましたか？クレジットカードはどうですか？
Mr. Sato: There were about 200 Euro, also, two credit cards were in the wallet.
だいたい200ヨーロ入っていました、そして2枚のクレジットカードも財布に入っていました。
Policeman: If you know the credit card number, I bet you to call the card company to stop using it.
もしクレジットカードのナンバーを知っているならば、カード会社に電話して使用を停止してもらったほうがいいと思います。

盗難証明書は必ず発行
海外旅行の保険には、たいてい盗難保証が入っています。また、保証できる金額も違っています。
保険を選ぶさいには、必ず自分が所持している貴重品に見合った金額を、保証してくれる保険を選ぶことをお勧めします。
また、この保証も必ず現地の警察が発行した「盗難証明書」”Certificate of theft”が必要になります。
英語が母国語でない国でも、意外にも公共機関で英語が話せる人がいる事が多いです。必ず警察に行きましょう。
でも、盗難に遭ったあとは、気持ちが落ち着かずに、英語を話すどころでは無いこともあると思います。そんなときは、どのように切り抜けたらいいのでしょうか。英会話に慣れていても、的確な英語が口から出てこないような時は日本語を話せる人がいるかどうかを聞いてみるのも手です。今回は、その点にも留意して会話をチェックしてみてください。

お金より
命会話で警察官が、「怪我をしなくて良かった」と言っています。これは金品を奪う為に、怪我をさせる、最悪、殺してしまうという、犯罪者がいる国も多く存在するからです。海外旅行なので、ちょっとリッチな格好をして行きたい人もいるでしょうが、そういう場合はあくまでも、危険な地域には行かないように気を付けてください。
メインストリートから一本隣が危険地区、という国も沢山ありますからね。
