今回のテーマは「部屋の片付けをする」です。
美代がスーに部屋の片付けを手伝うように依頼されました。
美代は手伝ってあげられるのでしょうか。

Miyo and Sue are talking.
Sue: I’m going to have a party at my house this weekend. But my room is a mess. Can you come over and help me clean?
Miyo: Sorry. I’m too busy. But I’ll tell you what you should do.
Sue: What is that?
Miyo: First, you should take out the trash. And then vacuum the floor. After that, mop the floor. If there are any clothes on the floor or out of the closet, put them in the closet.
Sue: OK! I’ll do it as soon as possible.
Miyo: If you need me after doing such chores, please call me again. I’ll come to your house then.
Sue: Thank you.

mess：（名詞）「めちゃくちゃ、散らかっていること」
come over：「やってくる」
help＋人＋原形不定詞：「人が～するのを助ける」 ＊help の後に原形不定詞を用いるのは 《米》 に多く、to不定詞を用いるのは 《英》 に多いが, 《口語》 では 《米》《英》 とも原形不定詞を用いるのが一般的。
what you should do：「あなたが何をすべきかを」
take out：「持ち出す」
vacuum：「掃除機をかける」
mop：「モップをかける」
put A in～：「Aを～に入れる、しまう」
as ～ as possible：「出来るだけ～」
chores：雑仕事

Sue: What is that? (それは何？)
Miyo: First, you should take out the trash. And then vacuum the floor. After that, mop the floor. If there are any clothes on the floor or out of the closet, put them in the closet. (まず、ゴミ出しをして。そして床に掃除機をかけて。それから床にモップをかけて。もし、床の上やクローゼットの外に服があったらクローゼットにしまってね。)
Sue: OK! I’ll do it as soon as possible. (分かった！できるだけすぐにやるわ。)
Miyo: If you need me after doing such chores, please call me again. I’ll come to your house then. (もしそれらのことが終わったあと私が必要だったらもう一度電話をちょうだい。そのときはあなたの家へ行くわ。)
Sue: Thank you. (ありがとう。)
★つ・ぶ・や・き★
部屋はいつもきれいにしていたいものですね。
でも、それがなかなか出来ないものです。
人を招待することで、部屋をきれいにキープ出来るのかも知れません。
欧米の人達のように私たち日本人も友人を招待してパーティーをするようにしたら、いつも部屋はきれいな状態でいられるのでしょうか……。
やってみる価値はありそうです。
