You are talking with your friend.
You: This is the picture that I always carry with me.
Friend: What is in this picture?
You: It’s a picture of my family. I and my family went to Hawaii. We stayed at this hotel at that time.
Friend: It looks nice!
You: Yes, it was a nice hotel. We stayed at a ocean view room. We could see a beautiful sea from our room.
Friend: That sounds good. Who is the boy next to you?
You: He is my brother. And these are my father and mother.
Friend: Who is this lady?
You: She is my fiancee.
Friend: She looks like an actress.

carry：「持ち運ぶ」

What is in this picture?：「この写真の中に何がある？」→「何が写っている？」となる。

at that time：「そのとき」

look nice：目からの情報で「良さそうだ」

ocean view room：「海の見える部屋」

sound good：耳からの情報で「良さそうだ」

next to～：「～の隣の」

fiancee：フランス語から来た言葉で男性から見た「婚約者」女性から見た婚約者は、fianceでeが取れる。

look like＋名詞：「～のようだ」

You: This is the picture that I always carry with me. (これは僕がいつも持ち歩いている写真なんだ。)
Friend: What is in this picture? (この写真は何が写っているんだい？)
You: It’s a picture of my family. I and my family went to Hawaii. We stayed at this hotel at that time. (家族の写真だよ。僕と家族はハワイへ行ったんだ。僕たちはそのときこのホテルに泊まったんだ。)
Friend: It looks nice! (すばらしい！)
You: Yes, it was a nice hotel. We stayed at a ocean view room. We could see a beautiful sea from our room. (そうなんだ、すばらしいホテルだったよ。オーシャンビューの部屋へ宿泊したんだ。部屋から美しい海を見ることができたよ。)
Friend: That sounds good. Who is the boy next to you? (それは良いね。君の隣にいるのは誰？)
You: He is my brother. And these are my father and mother. (僕の弟だよ。そして、これが父と母。)
Friend: Who is this lady? (この女性は誰？)
You: She is my fiancee. (彼女は僕の婚約者さ。)
Friend: She looks like an actress. (女優さんのようだね。)

日本人よりも、外国の方々は普段から家族の写真を持ち歩いているようです。
私にはそのような習慣はありませんが、あなたは如何ですか？
携帯電話の中にも画像を入れられるので、写真を持ち歩く必要はないですか？

タツヤがビルに家族のことを聞かれました。

タツヤは家族のことをどんな風に説明するのでしょうか。

会話「家族のことを話す」

Bill: Do you have a big family? (ご家族は大勢いらっしゃるのですか？)
Tatsuya: Not really. I have one brother and one sister. (いえ、ちがいます。兄と姉が一人ずつおります。)
Bill: Please tell me more. (もっと教えて下さい。)
Tatsuya: My brother is a salesperson and my sister is an office worker. (兄は販売員で姉は会社員です。)
Bill: Where do they work? (どちらでお仕事をなさっているのですか？
Tatsuya: My brother works at AA Department store. And my sister works for BB Corporation. (兄はAAデパートで働いています。そして、姉はBB会社で働いています。)
Bill: Oh really? My brother works for BB Corporation, too. (え、本当？僕の兄もBB会社で働いています。)
Tatsuya: Which section does he work in? (何課ですか？)
Bill: He works in the personnel section. How about your sister? (兄は、人事課で働いています。あなたのお姉さんは？)
Tatsuya: She works in the general affairs section. (姉は、総務課で働いています。)

ワンポイント

Please tell me more.：もう少し情報を知りたいときに言います。

salesperson：販売員

office worker：会社員（OLという言い方はしませんので注意！）

section：（会社などの）課

personnel section：人事課

How about ～?：～は如何ですか？

general affairs section：総務課

世の中って意外と狭いものですねぇ……。

自己紹介をしてみたら、どこかでつながっているということも良くあることです。

家族が同じ会社で働いていた、とまではいかなくても、同じ町に住んでいた何て言うこともなきにしもあらず……。

今日のテーマは「ジョンが翔太に家族のことについて話す」です。

ジョンと翔太がお互いの家族のことを話しています。

会話「ジョンが翔太に家族のことについて話す」

John is asking Shota about his family. (ジョンが翔太に家族のことについて聞いています。)
John: Do you have a big family? (君の家族は大勢いるの？)
Shota: Not really. (そうでもないよ。)
John: How many members do you have in your family? (家族は何人？)
Shota: I have four members. My parents, my brother and I. (４人だよ。両親、兄、そして僕。)
John: Please tell me more. (もっと教えて。)
Shota: My father works for a bank. My mother works as a nurse. And my brother is a high school student. How about your family? (父は銀行で働いているんだ。母は看護婦として働いている。そして、兄は高校生。君の家族は？)
John: I have a big family. My grandparents, parents, three brothers and I. So I have 8 members in my family. (僕には家族がたくさんいるんだ。祖父母、両親、３人の兄弟、そして僕。だから、８人家族だね。)
Shota: Wow, that’s great! (わ～、それはすごい！)
