日本に来たきっかけと、英語講師になったきっかけ

英会話を勉強する生徒へアドバイス

My name is Kristine Grace S. Pandong, a license holder and a graduate of B.S. Architecture from Mapua Institute of Technology, a reputable university located in Manila, Philippines. Have worked as an Architect in the Philippines, and recently came to Okinawa to join my husband. I would love to take my chances in having a career change from being an Architect to becoming an ESL Teacher. I am very much into children as we have our own 7 year old daughter.

I would like to be open and honest as I am always to anyone, I don’t have any formal teaching experiences, other than teaching my daughter and teaching part-time twice a month, every Saturday, in an English conversation school in Naha. During my high school days though, I normally volunteer as a substitute teacher for preschool and elementary classes as I am very much dedicated in teaching children, because it is my ultimate passion, thus I am applying to accomplish it.

Through the years of being an Architect and a mom, I’ve acquired skills which are transferable and adaptable to this new career I am hoping to fulfill include, but are not limited to, the following:

- Able to multi-task and have proper time management
- Ability to conceptualize, plan and arrange activities and events
- Encourage and motivate others to explore and learn more
- Present written materials in an organized manner
- Present materials orally in an enthusiastic approach
- Utilize computer for research and in producing exciting presentations for school activities
- Effective communication and listening skills
- Has the ability to manage critical situations, works as an effective negotiator
- Good in Paperwork and Documentation
- Loyal and has strict compliance to Guidelines and Principles
- Patient, Caring and Passionate about children

I am a very personable and approachable person, which I think is a very important factor for a teacher to connect well with her students. I will do my best to teach in a fashionable way, to get the students hyped up about learning, at the same time, learn all the different aspects there is to learn to the extent of my abilities to be able to be competitive, as I am very enthusiastic and motivated to succeed in this field.

I am hoping I could be of service to you beloved parents. I will surely help you, as parents, in teaching your child to learn and use English effectively. I will make it a point to help them use English language to be able to communicate and express their feelings and thoughts other than their own language, and for them to be able to succeed, in their future life, if they would go out to places where English language is inevitable to use.
