Hey there! My name is Jonathan and I'm from England. I am currently
living and working in Tokyo. I have recently graduated from Nottingham Trent
University in England with a degree in Biomedical Science. I am currently
working as an instructor for NOVA so I have much experience teaching,
in my spare time I like to spend time with friends and also to take time
out to go travelling. I am a very patient and thorough person so I will strive
to do my best in order for you to achieve success and improve your English
to a satisfactory level. I will ensure that you will leave with your new found
knowledge of the English language and be able to use this with confidence.
I will not just read from a textbook, I will also teach you the more commonly
used expression and terms that are more likely to be heard in a day-to-day
situation.
Teaching frequently tasked with training new staff.
These tasks included showing them around the workplace, informing them of any rules and regulations as well as training them and working along side them whilst they got used to the new surroundings, answering any questions along the way which they may have.
As well as this, as a member of a local football team representing the Chinese Community in Sheffield, I regularly worked alongside team mates, working with and training younger members of the team.
I often help supervise children at various children centres whenever possible, including the local Chinese Community Centre and Chinese School where I assist other teachers and volunteers in supervising children as well as adults, in teaching basic written and spoken Chinese.
On top of this, I also played games All of these have taught me the importance of being patient and understanding when working with and training new individuals, especially with those who are younger than myself, as you are seen as a role model to them and are often looked up to and respected.
It is vital that the individual feels they can approach you easily with any problems they may have without having to feel nervous or scared.
During my stay in Japan, I have been working as an English teacher for both children and adults as well as an English conversation chat host. I support other teachers in teaching English to children of all ages, from pre-school children to Elementary School students. Depending on the age of the student, I sung songs and played games with the children to helping them with pronunciation and any general problems which they may have regarding English. I’m also work in an English host cafe where my duties are split between conducting 1 to 1 lessons to adults and chatting to Japanese customers who wish to practice their English.
