I came to Japan to work, build a career and build a home. I love its safety, its predictability and cultural heritage. (And Japanese food of course). I want to do English language teaching because I believe it’s crucial that Japan develops on an international level, and the first step would be to learn the lingua franca. Secondly, as a person who has learned two foreign languages, I know how hard and frustrating it can be to learn a language (specifically speaking) and I think I can use my casual attitude and spontaneity to make it fun and less daunting for my students.

To my future students,

I strive to be a good reliable teacher whom you can work together with to achieve your learning goals. I am a laid-back, easy to talk to type of person who enjoys creativity and spontaneity in her classes rather than constant staring at pages and pages of words and grammar. Practical experience is key, and we will apply our theoretical knowledge through media, news, and chatting about our lives. I look forward to work with you.

I like to use news articles, short stories, easy to understand podcasts, youtube, movies etc. In class I’d prepare little booklets with weekly topics, important vocabulary, grammar and sentence structures.

I have had experience as a teaching assistant of one year, assisting children ages 4 to 18. Basic reading and writing, as well as exam preparation.

I majored in Japanese studies (BA) and I’m currently a law student (BA). I’m fully bilingual Dutch/English and I speak good Japanese.
