Hello,
My name is Chris Battin I'm 23 years old and am from Southern California. I'm currently a graduate student at Pepperdine University in Malibu and am in Japan for 4 months on an internship. I have previously lived in Tokyo for two years while I was in college and hope it will be my permanent home some day.
I have taken many language classes in Japanese and understand what it is like to learn a foreign language. I have experience working with students on improving their conversational English but can also provide assistance at a more professional level.
I prefer to let the student tell me what they are hoping to work on and what style of learning they are most comfortable with. This can range from assistance working through a text book or simply discussing articles in an English newspaper or magazine. I make myself available to students all day by phone or email and am happy to answer English questions they may have.
I am a very friendly and easy going person who enjoys meeting new people. I think the key to a good English lesson is the ability to make a student feel comfortable and confident when speaking a foreign language.
