Useful Tips for Teachers

Expert advice to attract students and build a thriving teaching career in Japan.

1. Attracting Students: The 7 Keys to an Irresistible Profile

Why These Tips Matter

In a competitive market, a well-crafted profile is your most powerful tool. The most sought-after teachers on our platform consistently demonstrate clarity, professionalism, and a genuine understanding of student needs. This guide is designed to help you do just that!

๐Ÿ“ท Key 1: The Power of a Professional Photo

A clear, friendly photo humanizes your profile. Profiles with photos are significantly more likely to be viewed.

  • Upload a high-quality, recent photo.
  • Ensure your face is clearly visible, with good lighting.
  • A warm, genuine smile makes a big difference.
๐Ÿ’ฐ Key 2: Strategic Lesson Pricing

Price is a significant factor. Research average rates (e.g., ยฅ2,500-ยฅ3,500/hr for English) and set a fee that reflects your experience and value.

๐Ÿš‰ Key 3: Maximize Visibility with Station Selection

Students search by train stations. Selecting all stations you can genuinely travel to dramatically increases your profile's exposure.

๐Ÿ“ Key 4: Craft a Compelling Self-Description

Write in Japanese first to show respect. Share your teaching philosophy, background, and hobbies to connect with students.

๐Ÿง‘โ€๐Ÿซ Key 5: Detail Your Unique Lesson Style

Clearly describe your teaching methods and materials (textbooks, original content, etc.) to help students find the right fit.

๐Ÿ”„ Key 6: Keep Your Profile Fresh & Active

Log in and make small tweaks monthly to show you are active. Profiles inactive for 90 days are temporarily hidden.

๐Ÿ’ฌ Key 7: Engage Promptly with Potential Students

A prompt, professional reply shows you are serious and enthusiastic. Aim to respond to all inquiries within 24 hours.

3. Account & Lesson Policies

How to Continue Lessons After Trial

To continue lessons after the free trial, students pay required fees. For a one-on-one lesson, this includes a registration fee of 9,800 yen and a monthly 3,000 yen fee. The lesson fee paid to you is 3,000 yen/hour. Group rates differ. We will inform you when a student completes this process.

Lesson Rules & Policies

  • Students must pay you the lesson fee before the lesson starts.
  • Students are not responsible for your expenses (e.g., coffee, train fare).
  • All cancellations must be made 24 hours in advance. Failure to do so requires the student to pay the lesson fee in full.

Withdrawal (Temporary/Permanent)

If you need to withdraw, please fill out the form on our website at least one month in advance. Do not notify us by email or telephone. This ensures a smooth transition for your students.

If You Need to Change Teacher

If you are moving or can no longer teach, please inform us and your student immediately. We will assign a new teacher to the student.
