It is my belief that perfecting your pronunciation is the most important step to
ward both hearing and speaking, and, of course, communication in English. I neve
r get angry at a student, under any circumstances, because I believe that any te
acher that loses his temper while teaching is incapable of teaching effectively,
because making a student tense is completely counterproductive, only resulting
in exhausting the student, making him/her tense and nervous, and keeping him/her
from learning and making progress in any field, particularly in the field of co
nversation. So you will find my lessons relaxing and enjoyable and extremely pro
ductive and beneficial for accomplishing your linguistic purposes.
現在の仕事： カルチャー日吉と自分の東中野Studioと戸部の教室と蒲田の産経学園でIr
ish Harpと言う楽器と英語で歌う事と上級の英語でDiscussionを教えています。
教育：Oklahoma州のPhilips大学で音楽と哲学のDouble専攻で１９５９年に卒業してから
米海軍の中尉になって厚木海軍飛行所に所属しました。その傍ら上智大学で日本語の専攻
を取って１９６１年に早稲田大学院に入学して狂言を中心に日本古典芸能の専攻で修士号
を獲得しました。同じ年から狂言の実技を野村万作先生に教わってきました。
過去の英語教授の経験：１９６１年から６年間、日米会話学院でFulltimeで教えながらNH
KのClark先生と矢崎先生と国弘先生の英会話番組にRegularとして４年間出演したり広い
幅の英会話教科書（中学校のCrownReadersを含め）の録音したり英語歌詞や台詞の喋り方
指導を水谷よしえや山崎努や北大路欣也や三林享子や岩下志麻や藤井照子や色々数多い有
名人に致しました。それから１９７５年に英語で狂言を演じる劇団を小川七郎と結成して
３０回以上世界中とそれより多く日本国内で巡業する中で幼稚園から大学までの生徒にWo
rkshopを行ってきています。一番得意とする分野は英語の音（発音や抑揚やそれを含める
喋り方・話術、英語でいえばElocutionと言う専門分野）を教えることです。
その他の教える経験：４歳の時からPianoを習い８歳から高等学校を出るまで自分より若
い子供にPianoを教えました。高校の一年生の時に赤十字の水泳教授の資格を取って１２
年間五歳の子供から８０歳代の大人まで９０００人以上に水泳を教えました。
I have always worked free lance for the most part, translating from Japanese to
English, teaching all aspects of the English language, with a particular concent
ration on elocution, pronunciation, intonation, delivery, and expression, using
singing, including voice production, as a major devise for accomplishing this pu
rpose, but I can give the same training using dramatic and public speaking readi
ngs or narrative recitation of literary works, poetry or prose, and, of course,
structured conversation. I also teach the Irish Harp and the ancient Lyre.

I do concerts playing the Irish Harp and singing. Also, I teach, restore, and re pair the same Irish Harps. I also teach how to sing in English, providing precis e and thoroughgoing coaching on English pronunciation, intonation, and phrasing, which serves to perfect the student's English conversation in terms of both spe aking and hearing and comprehension.
