I am retired and have free time to spare.
Since arriving in Japan back in November 2010, I thought of utilizing my free time to teach English. While being here I have been learning a different lifestyle to that of Australia. Excluding the earthquakes, transportation here (especially the trains) is incredible. The regularity of the trains and buses truly amazing, and the freeways and expressways (built above ground level), is a huge eye opener. Although relatively new here and learning the culture to the best of my ability, I am hoping to share some of my experiences and observations through teaching. Not being able to speak the language, to be understood and understand the other person has been difficult for me, a frustration that I can relate to. My wife also is a teacher, and also accompanies me in teaching, which has worked well, as she has lived here for over 30 years, and although not a native of this beautiful country, she does speak the language, which does help if any students do not understand anything we might say in English. I was a salesman all my working life, and interacted well with people. Teaching is brand new to me and a career I would love to experience. It will be a learning curve with great future possibilities. Talking of brand new, I have written my first novel which is yet to be published and am writing a sequel to it. I found it to be a challenge, and I learned something new, kept my time worthwhile, but at the same time an enjoyable experience. I am happy with my accomplishment. My other interests are in the weather, also walking and exploring this wonderful city of Tokyo, but photography is part of that and since being here, I have already cataloged over 20,000 photos and videos up to November 2014.
Finished schooling at Kings College in Adelaide in year 11.
A sales Consultant for the majority of my working life, Mainly in the carpet industry.
Back in Australia I often helped home-stay students with their English, for a number of years, and those students were from many different countries including Japan.
Apart from that,I haven't had teaching experience, as such, except in training new employees in the businesses I was involved in.
Now my wife, also a teacher, accompanies me, and we work well as a couple in teaching. The bonus for prospective students. 2 teachers for the price of 1 lesson fee..
