I love helping people with English. It is the best job in my opinion. I have six years experience, and I enjoy it a lot! I am creative, open minded and prepare for each lesson.
I majored in Accounting and Information Systems. I also minored in Astronomy and Cosmology as part of the Five College Astronomy Program. I had an internship at NASA, and also interned as a recruiter for a retail business that had over 450 stores. I studied Mandarin Chinese for one semester, and I also studied Japanese on my own. I was accepted into the Japanese Graduate program at the University of Massachusetts, but came to Japan in 2012 to see if I liked living in Japan. At that time I found a job at a small English conversation school, where I am still currently working. During college, I was given the opportunity to take graduate level courses in both Astronomy and accounting, which I needed special permission for, as I was still an undergrad at the time.
A wide range of responsibilities. I teach/tutor/help people that are baby age all the way to retirees. I use all forms of English test materials, from EIKEN, TOEIC, TOEFL, to high school and college entrance exams. I help business professionals with presentations, speeches, internal emails, and confidential business information. I have helped achieve growth of the school from one school for over 9 years and one teacher, to now two schools and four teachers. As part of the team, I have worked very diligently to create lesson plans and activities that the students enjoy a great deal. I also think that working in a very small school for three years is a solid achievement in itself.
I am not only responsible for the students, but I have helped recruit, interview, and train new teachers as well. Taking on much more of a role than the other teachers ever have. I performed all these extra duties for free as well. I think that shows a great sense of responsibility beyond what most teachers will do.
