日本に来たきっかけと、英語講師になったきっかけ

英会話を勉強する生徒へアドバイス

I am an Australian studying the Japanese language in Tokyo. Despite my current student visa status, I already have a university degree (Bachelor of Science with Honours), eighteen months experience working in a research laboratory, and two years experience in Japan as an English teacher for all grades in elementary and junior high schools. I have also volunteered as an English instructor for an adult conversation class, which included adults of all English language abilities.

I have a strong passion for learning, and I want to encourage students by inspiring them with that passion. Whether it is language, literature, science, maths, history, or even current events, I feel that education is a privilege and we should utilise all of the resources we have available at our fingertips. To do this, I want to assist students with their study and understanding of the English language. Not only do I wish to help them learn and become proficient in English, I also aim to make their studies enjoyable. This is important because if a person enjoys doing something (learning English for example) it will make them want to do it more. The more they do it, the more they will remember, and the better they will become.

I am a very motivated, reliable and hard working person, and I enjoy being able to teach other people about what I know and am passionate about. Just as importantly, I enjoy learning new things from others, and am always looking for new things to try. I am very patient, and from my experience as an English teacher, and also as a university tutor, I have come to understand that different students learn at different speeds and in different ways. If one method of explanation doesn’t work, I will happily try different methods until I find one that students can understand. These qualities will make me an asset as both an employee and as a teacher.
