日本に来たきっかけと、英語先生になったきっかけ

I came to Japan to go to graduate school at 上智大学大学院. I teach English because I enjoy meeting new and interesting people and helping them with their studies.

I'm from Costa Mesa, California. I have lived in Japan for 13 years. I have worked in many fields in Japan in the service industry so I am very positive and I have a lot of different experiences. I understand Japanese culture well. I have a lot of experience teaching at all levels and different kinds of schools. I speak Japanese well and can teach in Japanese students with little or no experience with English.

Helping students improve their pronunciation and natural usage of English and creating useful and interesting educational materials. Teaching both with a Japanese teacher as well as solo lessons.

Project manager for a Swedish fashion company opening up their first stores in Japan. Duties included relocation services for ex-pats coming to Japan; including visa preparation and applications, e-mail translations, phone interpretation for international phone conferences, apartment location for foreign staff, PR translations and various other services.

Ralph Lauren Retail Japan, 2005/11 to 2007/07
Senior sales associate for Ralph Lauren’s first flagship store in Asia located in Tokyo, Japan. Main responsibilities included preparation before the store actually opened, including organizing sorting and setting the floor with Polo, Ralph Lauren merchandise. Once the store opened primary duties consisted of general sales and occasional stock work.

Amend Inc. 2005/08 to 2005/11
Creative director for a small advertising and consulting firm in Tokyo, Japan.
Major duties included preparing concepts and writing copy for advertising materials for medium to large sized companies in and around Tokyo. Also, cross-cultural liaison for foreign companies trying to break into the Japanese market, translation of various documents from English to Japanese and Japanese to English.
