Emily and Takuya are talking about Internet shopping.
Emily: I can’t find the book I want at the bookstore.
Takuya: Why don’t you order it from amazon.com?
Emily: What is that? Takuya: It’s an Internet bookstore. You can buy any book from them.
Emily: Oh I see.
Takuya: I usually buy books from them. I like Internet shopping. We can find everything we need through the Internet.
Emily: But, isn’t it dangerous to buy goods through the Internet?
Takuya: That is the big problem. So, we need to improve security and protect personal data. And we should choose the reliable shops carefully.
Emily: That is the same as the real shops.
Takuya: That’s right.

Emily: What is that? (それ何？)
Takuya: It’s an Internet bookstore. You can buy any book from them. (インターネットの本やさんだよ。 そこでどんな本も買えるよ。)
Emily: Oh I see. (分かったわ。)
Takuya: I usually buy books from them. I like Internet shopping. We can find everything we need through the Internet. (僕は大抵そこで本を買うんだ。 ネットショッピングは好きだよ。インターネットで必要なものは何でも見つけることが出来るよ。)
Emily: But, isn’t it dangerous to buy goods through the Internet? (でも、インターネットで商品を買うのは危険じゃないの？)
Takuya: That is the big problem. So, we need to improve security and protect personal data. And we should choose the reliable shops carefully. (それが大きな問題なんだ。だから、安全性を向上させて個人情報を守る必要があるんだ。それから、慎重に信頼できる店を選ぶべきだね。)
Emily: That is the same as the real shops. (それは、実際の店舗と同じね。)
Takuya: That’s right. (その通り。)

George: When did you come to New York? (いつニューヨークに来たの？)
Miki: I came here to study 10 years ago. (ここへは、勉強をするために10年前に来たの。)
George: What did you study then? (そのとき何を勉強したの？)
Miki: I took a specialized computer course. How about you, George? (コンピュータ専門コースよ。あなたは？ジョージ。)
George: I was born and raised in New York. I graduated from New York University 8 years ago. My major was world history. And now I’m very interested in Japanese history. So I love visiting historic places in Japan. (僕は生まれも育ちもニューヨークだよ。8年前にニューヨーク大学を卒業したんだ。専攻科目は世界史だった。そして、今とても日本の歴史に興味があるんだ。だから、日本の史跡を訪ねたいと強く思っている。)
