When I was working as a marine engineer, I had a chance to travel to most parts of the globe, including Germany. One day, when my ship came alongside in one of the ports in Bremerhaven, I had a chance to go shore. To make the story short, I toured around Bremerhaven with my British, Filipino and Indian colleagues. Everything went well until we got back to our ship. It was a bit late at that time, probably around 10 pm and the gate door was closed. What was worse was that the door locking system was a password-system and we forgot to investigate the password before we left for Bremerhaven because we did not know the time when the gate door was closed. The ship departure time was 1 am and we were in a big trouble. Everyone of us was worried about not being able to go back to the ship. Since I was a quite small guy (in terms of both weight and height), I even tried to enter the port through the gate bars but it wasn't successful. But luckily, we saw a truck coming to the gate and a guy got off the truck and he just pushed the door to open it. It was unlocked initially!!!! We spent around one hour just to open the door which had been unlocked!!! What a stupid experience!!! I think the biggest reason was that normally, common port gate doors are not as sophisticated as the one we encountered and we became quite nervous when we saw what it seemed complex and complicated to us but in fact, it was very easy.

Likewise, there are many doors in your daily life which you think they are beyond your level to unlock but in fact, they really just need your attempt. Of course, English is one of those doors.

With proper guidelines and learning methods, you do not need a lot of time to open the door to the world, which is English. If the language seems to be the hardest barrier for you to overcome, let me help you to achieve functional proficiency in English so that your horizon will not be limited only to Japan but to the world.

As soon as I entered my bachelor-degree university back in 2010, I started working in a private boarding school where I had to teach English, Maths and some science subjects such as Physics. Rather than being assigned to a specific subject in a specific class throughout the whole year, I was made to change the classes and the lessons frequently.
To explain it a bit more deeply, before a new semester begins, the executive boarding school members discuss and decide which chapters will be assigned to who, depending upon the teachers' educational background, specialization, capabilities and of course, their consent. After that, they made the time schedules for the teachers, not assigning them to a particular set of lessons or a class, but making them switch to one class after another. The reason is that the school looks for close exposure and familiarity among all students and teachers, letting the children deal with the different personalities and at the same time, making them learn the individual specialized expertise of the respective teachers. In fact, the school is dedicated to the government matriculation level at the most optimal level, building the students' foundation step by step through a series of the school year levels (elementary, middle and high) until they finally take the matriculation exam to enter the university.
I was at that time an engineering student and frequently took part in organizing English conversation activities voluntarily in the American Center in the American Embassy of Myanmar. The responsibility in the American Center was to choose a topic, lead the conversation group, and engage in the group members by supporting them to be able to speak out on their terms.
Therefore, I was normally assigned to teach English, Maths and science subjects. Since the school occupies students of different age brackets, I had a chance to experience teaching almost all of them, most frequently aged between 10 and 15, and sometimes, 5 and 10. As a part-timer, I worked there from 2010 till when I left for Japan on the 2nd of April this year.
Rather than teaching, I also worked for AP.MOLLER MAERSK Logistics and Supply Chain Company, for around one year, where I worked and stayed together with diverse nationalities- British, Polish, Romanian, Ukrainian, German, Dutch, South African, Filipino, Indian, Chinese, etc… on a daily basis from dawn to dusk in two container vessels. That communication experience sharpened my English and social skills more brightly, allowing me to have an acquaintance with different cultural and societal backgrounds.
What is more, I also received an academic level IELTS band score 7.5 in 2018 and engaged in many translation projects in Myanmar as a freelance translator.
Right now, I am currently working as a project-based assistant English teacher especially for English teaching camps in ISA EDUCATIONAL CONSULTATION INSTITUTE, JAPAN. My main responsibility there is to get engaged and familiar with the children by speaking English with them rather than just purely teaching them English so that they will feel more comfortable and get used to communicating in English. The age brackets of the students are diverse, ranging from around 4 years to around 13 years old. This is a project-based job, which is different from regular part-time jobs and the institute offers me only when there is a project, which, I can even accept or reject depending upon my time schedules at that time.
Moreover, I am currently working as a project-based leader(or)assistant leader in projects GLOBAL EDUCATION PROJECT (GEP), JAPAN which aims to envision Japanese students about different nationalities and cultures around the world. A variety of topics, which can highlight the cultural, national and individual difference are discussed in English. Since this is also project-based as well, I can decide whether to accept or decline the projects whenever they are available, and the projects also occur less frequently, unlike regular part-time jobs.
