What Brought Me to Japan: I came to Japan to further my studies and immerse myself in a new cultural environment. Japan has always fascinated me with its rich history, unique traditions, and cutting-edge technology. The opportunity to pursue a Master’s degree in TESOL at Sophia University in Tokyo has allowed me to combine my love for education with my interest in Japanese culture. Living and studying in Japan offers me the chance to not only enhance my academic and professional skills but also to experience life in a vibrant and diverse community. Reason for Becoming an English Teacher: I became an English teacher because I have a deep passion for language and communication. Growing up, I recognized the importance of English as a global language, and I wanted to help others unlock the doors that proficiency in English can open. Teaching English allows me to share my knowledge and skills while also learning from my students. I find great joy in seeing my students progress and gain confidence in their abilities. I came to Japan as an international student. I am currently on my second year in a Japanese Language School in Tokyo. I came to Japan to pursue my studies in Digital Business and Innovation at Tokyo International University. Japan's advanced technology, innovative business environment, and rich culture really attracted me. I never had an official work experience but I did volunteer hours on teaching middle students when I was in high school. I also went to a local school in Bangkok and taught elementary kids English as well.

I originally came to Japan to pursue my undergraduate studies, however, I have always had a passion of teaching English to kids. This past spring I graduated from San Francisco State University with a Bachelor’s in business. My emphasis was in Hospitality Tourism and Management & I also earned a minor in Business Administration. During my time in San Francisco, I worked downtown at a hotel for 2 years; assisting travelers from all over the world, many whom spoke little or no english. My marriage brought me to Japan 27 years ago, when I spoken very little Japanese. While I was learning Japanese, I came to see how a language could change a person's life. It's such a wonderful thing that people can communicate without language barrier. Besides, learning a language is so fun. I've always liked speaking with people. I was an English teacher in Pakistan. I got the opportunity to come to Japan to enhance my skills as a teacher. Japanese education system is a complete new experience for me. Having this experience, I can become a better English teacher.

I have been teaching English for 13 years. In the past I've worked in various types of environments, including kindergartens, companies and conversation schools but most of my experience was gained through my position as an English Instructor at Waseda University.

At Waseda, I teach a variety of courses, including general conversation, writing, business and discussion. I started in 2002.

14 years of teaching English. 11 years within same company, and still going on. Creating teaching materials, events, conducting lessons to students from 2 years old up to 82 years old.

I can create specific curriculum and lesson plans as per the student's need and request.

I have been working as an English Language Teacher for the past 2 years now and have experience working with school children and young adults.

When I was teaching English to Japanese students, I noticed that they are too shy and afraid to make mistakes, despite grasping grammar. Many Japanese people think of English as difficult, boring and useless so I want to change this negative perspective. It's actually fun, interesting and very important. Proficiency in English is key to unlocking doors of opportunities abroad, may it be in the aspect of career or travel. I want to boost their confidence by empowering and encouraging them that it's okay to make mistakes. I want to be their study and language exchange buddy where they can share their feelings, thoughts and experiences in English. Seeing my students progress and enjoy taking my lessons gave me a sense of fulfilment. When my students booked my classes regularly and left positive feedback, it made my life more meaningful and it seemed like I realized my purpose- which is to teach English.

Education shouldn't be about transferring knowledge from textbooks to mind. It should be a journey filled with discovery, curiosity and joy when it comes to learning a foreign culture/language. And so it should be a space where tasks are engaging and enjoyable to foster a lifelong love for learning. And be integrating fun and enjoyment into the learning process students should be more interested in learning and therefor exceed in learning about different cultures that have been developed over the past centuries.
